Client Details

Lift & Hoist International is a news and insight publisher covering overhead lifting equipment and competing material handling technologies.

They approached us to design, build and launch a brand new portal for their Australasian region which would act as a sister site to the existing Lift & Hoist International website. The new portal was to act as a roundup of news, product updates and events as well as a directory of companies operating in that region.

The new Australasian portal had a tight deadline, as the new site needed to be launched in support of the publication of the Lift & Hoist Australasia magazine.

The Challenge

Whilst the Lift & Hoist International website is well established and respected within the industry, the Lift & Hoist Australasia website had to be built from scratch. This meant that all content had to be created to operate in a very competitive market space. The website also had to coincide with the launch of a new magazine so advertiser expectations had to be managed as well as those of the client. The new website was to reflect the brand values of the existing magazine titles but also look to the future of the company and how it would evolve in the coming years.

Our Solution

Using both a user and client centric approach we designed a website that made ongoing management easy and was more responsive for users than the existing international site. This included the creation of custom post types and taxonomies that also provided an improved user experience. The site was built responsively to adapt to many different devices and browsers and included various automations for their ongoing marketing operations. The new site also features a sophisticated ad platform which can be easily managed by the client. Britweb undertook all project management, needs analysis, wireframe designs, website build, testing and training for Lift & Hoist Australasia staff.

How we Added Value

Britweb worked very closely with the client throughout the project. The project was front loaded to ensure that we completely understood how they work and what they would need to manage in the new website. The programme was then broken down into various phases of work. We had regular calls and meetings with the three main stakeholders at Lift & Hoist International, working around their busy lives and business travel arrangements to make the project as straightforward for them as possible.

The Results

The new LIft & Hoist Australasia site was successfully launched to coincide with the publication of the printed magazine.

The site has attracted new advertisers and has allowed the client to manage content and advertising more efficiently than ever before.

Lift & Hoist International have been pleased with the site and have now invited Britweb to rebuild the Lift & Hoist International site to match the Australasia title. This will involve taking the large existing and ageing Drupal site and rebuilding it in a responsive, fully managed way including recategorising thousands of pages of existing content.

Britweb are also supporting LIft & Hoist International with the design of other marketing touchpoints such as e-newsletters so that they are consistent with the new websites and make the most of the brands digital potential.
