On Tuesday 7th of October, BritWeb Towers decided to celebrate the end of the Great British Bake Off in style – by having our own! We do love our buns.

As we are sure some of you may have seen on Twitter and Facebook, our very talented colleague Daniel Smith is a frequent baker, and showers us with scrummy cakes every week. He challenged the entire office to each bake something to bring in for judging, and that’s exactly what we did! With so many sugary treats, we were scoffing them down for days…

The contenders - in all our sugary glory

After much deliberating and swallowing, we cast our votes for the three that tasted the best. The votes are in –

In Joint First Place

– we have Steve Goodwin and Daniel Smith with their rather scrumptious goods:

Daniel's Cake

Daniel Smith (Joint First)

Daniel described his creation as:

“Not one but four moist and gooey layers of chocolate and sticky caramel goodness, what’s not to like? But it came out bigger than the picture!”

Here’s what Steve had to say:

“I wanted to represent the average BritWeb team member with my creation. I started with a firm bottom, and then I gave it some depth, but made it really inviting so you wanted to sink your teeth in. Then made it all a bit nuts. And a pretzel, everything’s better with a pretzel.”

In second came Becky’s “lovely” Buns, and in joint third Ferrelyn’s selection of Scones and Laura’s Coconut and Cherry Cupcakes. Take a look at this little video Daniel made to see the collection more up close and personal, and try not to drool!
