10 Marketing Ideas YOU Must Consider

Cartoon megaphone with digital marketing icons coming out of it

When you set out with a new marketing strategy, you will always take the following steps; research, plan and implement. Each stage amounts to a lot of time spent and trial and error, but you slowly and surely begin to move towards the right direction.

However, sometimes we get stuck in a rut, and become slaves to our social calendars. STOP RIGHT THERE! No one wants to be scraping at the bottom of the box for ideas, so here are some points to get the cogs turning again:

  • Twitter – All companies will have a business account, but is it working? Revise your tone of voice, or even get employees to make accounts to link to it. This will build a sense of community and eventually build upon the way people trust your business.
  • Infographic – Everyone loves a visual. Instead of posting about an upcoming event or telling them what the best fitness exercise is, make an infographic that has your company name/logo on it. This way people will be more interested in what you have to say, and recognise your company name.
  • Competitions – If you’re patiently waiting for Halloween to come around for your next big social event, why not run a competition… just for funsies. Come up with a creative concept, and get people involved by utilising your social websites – as it will build your followers and increase reputation.
  • Advertising – It has become a necessity in the business world, not because everyone wants to but because they have to. This isn’t the best way of thinking about it, so you need to come up with something that people will laugh and cry about or even find controversial. This is fundamentally what gets people talking.
  • Email Marketing – If you think the world of email marketing is dead, you’re very wrong. Yes, we all get hundreds of emails through a day that end up unopened, yet there’s always that one or two that catch your eye. Work out how to be that email, and go for it.
  • Talk to your customers – Unsure of what to do next? Ask your customers. What do your target audience want, why, and how? Look at reviews and comments on your various platforms, or create a survey. Surveys are still one of the most effective forms of data collection.
  • Get up to date with SEO – Check what your competitors have been up to, see what they’re doing well and what they aren’t doing so well. Think about what your target audience is interested in right now, and use that to your advantage.
  • Add small touches – Think about all of your various platforms, and what you could add to them. For example, making the 404 page on your website comedic. These little things will stick in people’s minds.
  • Do something unexpected – If you have been sticking to a timetable for a while, chances are you’ve found the things that work for your brand and are keeping to them. Experiment a bit – do something that your followers wouldn’t expect you to do. You don’t have much to lose as you have already figured out what you should be doing.
  • Finally, report back and refine – Look at the results of these changes, and tweak them around to suit your marketing plan!
